Primark Brings Click-and-Collect Service Alongside Profit Increase

Primark is set to launch its click-and-collect service across all its stores in Great Britain by the end of 2025, following a 46% surge in adjusted operating profit to £508m for the 24-week period ending on March 2.

The fashion retailer experienced a 7.5% increase in revenue in the first half, reaching £4.5bn. Like-for-like sales were up by 2.1%, and the margin rose to 11.3% from 8.3%.

The company attributed this growth to the opening of new stores and strategic price adjustments made last year to counter inflation.

In the UK, sales climbed by 4.3% compared to the same period last year, driven by a 3.6% increase in like-for-like sales.

After a successful 18-month trial period, Primark will expand its click-and-collect service to all 184 stores across England, Scotland, and Wales by the end of 2025. The expansion will also include introducing new categories and products for online purchase, such as men’s clothing, selected home and lifestyle items, and additional ranges.

Paul Marchant, the chief executive of Primark, stated: “Our trial of click-and-collect over the past 18 months was aimed at figuring out how to provide our customers with more convenient shopping options while aligning with our business model and physical stores.”

Associated British Foods, Primark’s parent company, announced a robust performance in the first half and is on track to achieve substantial growth in profitability and cash generation, surpassing initial expectations for the financial year.

The company had previously anticipated a significant improvement in full-year profits.

Marchant added: “We are now confident that we have established a model that can achieve both objectives and support our expansion plans.”
