When Alma de Ganay made her way to New York, she brought with her a remarkable background in art and fashion. However, she could not have anticipated the whirlwind of chances and experiences that awaited her. Immersing herself in the city’s lively atmosphere, Alma concentrated on building connections and acquiring crucial experience in the fashion public relations field.
Teaming Up with Maryam Nassir Zadeh
Meeting Maryam Nassir Zadeh marked a transformative turning point in Alma’s professional journey. Having admired Maryam’s designs long before she arrived in the city, becoming a PR manager on her team was a major milestone for Alma.
Her responsibilities quickly evolved beyond public relations, extending into visual merchandising and playing a role in shaping the brand’s creative direction.
Collaborating closely with Maryam not only sharpened Alma’s skills but also enabled her to create a network of connections that opened doors to future possibilities. This experience enriched her comprehension of the fashion sector and the nuances of establishing a brand while maintaining a creative purpose.
Alma’s experience in New York established a robust foundation for her career, allowing her to head back to Europe with valuable connections and prospects to work alongside American clients while continuing her professional growth. The insights she gained and the relationships she formed during this time have been crucial in charting her ongoing journey.
Projects after New York
Upon returning to Europe, Alma’s creative path continued to thrive. She teamed up with the renowned photographer Brianna Capozzi, celebrated for her unique depictions of unconventional women, marked by whimsical subjects, eclectic items, and bold nudity.
Alma worked alongside Brianna to develop branding for her inspiring charitable venture, On The Nose. This project, co-founded with Brianna’s partner Maya Barrera, unites artists to create and paint ceramics, with profits supporting charities based in New York.
As if her exploration of fashion and art weren’t sufficient, Alma also ventured into the music scene. She collaborated with Julian Casablancas, the lead singer of The Voidz, assisting in the promotion of their latest single, “All The Same.” In this capacity, Alma utilized her PR and strategic skills to ensure the launch was as impactful as the music itself.
During her 12 months exclusively focused on Maryam Nassir Zadeh, the experience provided her with essential groundwork, connections, and opportunities. Alma left a significant mark on New York’s creative community, and she carried that forward momentum with her back to Europe.
